The pass at Inume traversed the mountains in Kai Province in Yamanashi Prefecture and served as a route from east to west just North of Mount Fuji. In this work by Hiroshige from his famous "36 Views of Mt. Fuji," the rays of the setting sun casts its vermillion light on the fog over the valley. High above, a flock of geese fly home to roost, while a few travelers are shown along the path to the right. One of the most beautiful designs from Hiroshige's own "36 Views of Mt. Fuji" series.

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) is the most important Japanese artist to emerge from Edo period ukiyo-e.
