In addition to creating a number of woodblock prints with Watanabe Shozaburo, Elizabeth Keith self-published a number of colored etchings documenting her travels in Asia. In this work, a young girl from Korea is shown wearing traditional hanbok clothing and an ayam, a traditional head covering to protect against the cold. The girl is posed in front of a silk screen-paneled painting of a garden.

Elizabeth Keith (1887-1956) was a Scottish printmaker who documented her travels in Japan, China, Korea, and Southeast Asia through woodblock prints, paintings, and etchings. A number of her woodblock prints were produced in collaboration with Watanabe Shozaburo in the early 20th century.
