    Funatsu sits in the shadow of Mount Fuji just to the north of the sacred mountain. Here we see a small village and a resident tending to his land. This chuban size design was produced as a commemorative print ca. 1980 from a 1936 design by Hasui and was produced in very small quantities. This is a later printing of this commemorative print.

    Hasui Kawase (1883-1957) is one of Japan's most important artists to emerge from the shin-hanga era. His prints are recognized throughout the world, with many of his woodblock prints elevating to icons of art and design.
