Hajime Namiki, "Shidare Sakura No. 3"

Japan's shidare sakura trees are known for their drooping branches and flowers, or they are weeping in appearance. Here, a large and old shidare tree in full bloom is set against deep green foliage. A light layer of mica gives the work incredible depth. A rare large format woodblock print by the very popular Hajime Namiki.

Namiki Hajime (1947 - ) is internationally recognized for his colorful and elegant woodblock prints incorporating gold and silver mica leafing throughout his designs. His compositions and prints reflect the artist's love of nature, especially of trees.
