One of Hasui's most recognizable and famous night designs, here we see an imposing tree set against an evening sky with a full moon. The tree looms over a thatched roof farmhouse. Magome is a rural area in Gifu prefecture. Rare in any edition, this woodblock print was produced from the original woodblocks by Watanabe.

Hasui Kawase (1883-1957) is one of Japan's most important artists to emerge from the shin-hanga era. His prints are recognized throughout the world, with many of his woodblock prints elevating to icons of art and design.
