The Yonghe (Lama) Temple dates back to the 17th century and is a monastery for Tibetan Buddhists of the Guleg school. The architecture reflects both Han and Tibetan aesthetics. In this piece by Keith, the main entrance to the temple is shown in full detail with a beautiful palette of soft colors.

Elizabeth Keith (1887-1956) was a Scottish printmaker who documented her travels in Japan, China, Korea, and Southeast Asia through woodblock prints, paintings, and etchings. A number of her woodblock prints were produced in collaboration with Watanabe Shozaburo in the early 20th century.
