Hiroshi Yoshida, "Daido Gate"

Dating to the 6th century and rebuilt in the 16th century, Daido Gate (Taedongmun) is located along the Taedong River in Pyongyang (North Korea today). This fascinating look into pre-war (likely Japanese occupied) Korea shows Koreans going about their day under the gaze of Daido Gate.

Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) is regarded as one of the most important shin-hanga period artists and often carved and printed his own works. His landscapes of Japan are known throughout the world, as are his prints of other countries such as Europe, the United States, and South Asia.
