Takahashi Hiroaki (Shotei), "Fireworks at Shubinomatsu"
Pickup currently unavailable
One of Takahashi Hiroaki's most famous designs shows two women in a small pleasure boat floating along the shores of the Sumida on a warm evening. The pine trees at Shubinomatsu (or pine trees of success) line the shore where the women are moored, while in the distance fireworks light up the night sky. Fine detailing and printing makes this work by Hiroaki a stand-out among woodblock prints in this format by the artist.
