Shin-Hanga
Arai Yoshimune, "Pine Tree on Shore"
Pickup currently unavailable
Published starting in the 1910s, the night scene prints of Hasegawa/Nishinomiya are atmospheric and unburdened by large amounts of color. Dominated by palettes of blue and black, the simplicity of the designs are striking.
In this rare design, a pine tree frames a moonlit sea while a fishing boat lazily paddles across the view. An austere composition with minimal colors that draws the viewer in. An early edition printing.
