The temple city of Madurai is in Tamil Nadu, India and dates to the 13th century. In this exceptional woodblock print, Hiroshi Yoshida shows the dark, cool interior of the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and its extraordinary carved pillars. This scarce work is part of Hiroshi Yoshida's series of works documenting his travels in India and Southeast Asia.
