Toshi Yoshida, "Kilimanjaro, Evening"

A variant of Toshi Yoshida's famous woodblock print of Kilimanjaro in the morning from 1973, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is shown in the early evening as the sun sets. The bright orange and peach sky is a striking contrast to the plains below. Another variant, "Kilimanjaro, Cloudy Day," was also printed during this time.

Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) is one of the twentieth century's most important woodblock print artists. Toshi is part of a long and famous line of past and present artists whose influence and popularity persist to this day. His father, Hiroshi Yoshida, was a master painter and woodblock print artists at the height of the shin-hanga print movement.
