Utagawa Yoshitsuru, "Yoshitsune Defeats Taira at Ichinotani"
Pickup currently unavailable
In this scene depicting a decisive moment in the Genpei War in the 12th century, the great warrior Yoshitsune of the Minamoto clan leads an attack on the Taira clan at Ichinotani on Honshu. Overwhelmed by Yoshitsune's forces, the defeated members of the Taira clan hastily make their escape by boat. A wonderfully chaotic design with many different focal points. Note the blooming cherry trees throughout the design.
