Azechi Umetaro (1902-1999) is one of the most important post-war artists born from sosaku-hanga movement. An avid mountain climber and writer of mountaineering, Azechi's primitive style set himself apart from his contemporaries and his works reflect his deep love of the mountains and the people who inhabit or visit them.
