In this vivid composition by Kunichika, three kabuki actors are shown set against the waterfall at Mount Omiya. Each actor is heavily tattooed and draped in beautiful geometrically patterned fabric. On the left, the actor Nakamura Shikan IV grasps a fan. In the center a tobacco pouch hangs from the neck of the actor Ichimura Uzaemon XIII, and on the right the actor Kawarazaki Gonjuro strikes a confident pose. A rare and marvelous triptych.
