Dating back to the 9th century, the temple at Sanzen-in in outer Kyoto was founded by the Tendai Buddhist sect. In this beautiful woodblock print, Sanzen-in is shown on a clear, full-moon evening. The lush green foliage is luminescent in the moonlight. This scarce woodblock print comes from a later edition printing from the original woodblocks.
