Hasui Kawase, "Snow at Mukojima"

Located on the banks of the Sumida, Mukojima and its boat docks are shown at night during a snow storm. Hasui's snow designs are famous for its realism and striking details. A rare design and later printing from the original woodblocks.

Hasui Kawase (1883-1957) is one of Japan's most important artists to emerge from the shin-hanga era. His prints are recognized throughout the world, with many of his woodblock prints elevating to icons of art and design.
