Originally produced in c. 1930s, the night scene prints of Hasegawa/Nishinomiya are atmospheric and unburdened by large amounts of color. Dominated by palettes of blue and black, the simplicity of the designs are striking. In this reproduced design originally done by Hiroshige, a woman walks in the evening with a paper lantern lighting the way. Note the fire ladder and the birds in the background.

Little is known about the artists employed by Hasegawa/Nishinomiya to produce these series of prints. The artists who produced these prints include Eijiro, Shoda Koho, Yoshimoto Gesso, and Arai Yoshimune.
