Ishikawa Toraji, "Fuji from Miho in Spring"

Miho Beach extends from Shizuoka into Saruga Bay and provides a grand view of Mt. Fuji. Here, the clouds overhead form a pattern framing Mt. Fuji's famous slope, while visitors enjoy a stroll on the beach below. One of Toraji's standout landscapes. Rare in any edition, this is a second-edition printing.

Ishikawa Toraji (1875-1964) drew inspiration from Western color and composition in many of his woodblock prints while maintaining many traditional ukiyo-e elements in his technique. He is known for his "Ten Types of Female Nudes," which was very controversial when first published in the 1935.
