    Ito Takashi, "Myokozan at Dawn"

    $0.00

Located in Niigate Prefecture, Myokozan is a popular retreat for skiing and its hot springs. In this idyllic design by Ito Takashi, the setting sun casts its light onto Myoko Mountain in the background. A lone house sits amidst heavy snow. A rare, early edition printing by Watanabe.

    Date: 1933
    Size: Oban
    Early edition (6mm seal)
    Publisher: Watanabe Shozaburo
    Condition: Excellent/fine condition and color
    Frame Shown: 16" x 24” x 1/2”, Classic Wood, Clear Walnut

Ito Takashi (1894-1982) was not a prolific artist, but his association with Watanabe Shozaburo makes him one of the more notable artists of the shin-hanga period. His works are evocative of the romanticism at the height of shin-hanga.
