Kobayashi Kiyochika, "Takanawa Uchimachi Under A Shrouded Moon"
Pickup currently unavailable
One of Kiyochika's most contemplative and striking designs depict a modern steam train barreling through the Takanawa district in Tokyo on a cloudy day. A significant work from one of the Meiji-period's most fascinating artists whose depiction of the steam train was both awe-inspiring and an ominous symbol of the modernization rapidly taking hold in Japan. A scarce and fine work.
