The Chiguko River is located in Kyushu, Japan and flows from Mount Aso to the Ariake Sea. In this work from one of the founding artists of the sosaku-hanga movement, the opposing banks of the Chiguko River is shown during a rainstorm. Marvelously simple in form and marrying abstraction and Impressionism, this first-edition printing comes from a collection of Japan Scenery Prints issued in 6 sets of 5 prints each by various artists published by Nakajima Jutaro. Tsukishi was an ancient province and is located in Fukuoka Prefecture.
