Shoda Koho, "Miyajima at Night"
Pickup currently unavailable
Originally produced in c. 1930s, the night scene prints of Hasegawa/Nishinomiya are atmospheric and unburdened by large amounts of color. Dominated by palettes of blue and black, the simplicity of the designs are striking. In this woodblock print, the great Torii gate at Miyajima is set against a brightly moonlit sky. A small boat drifts by in the calm water.
