The central subject of this work is the snow covered mountain in the background which looms over the village. In the foreground is a sarumawashi performer crossing a narrow bridge over a rushing stream. Traditional sarumawashi performers utilize highly trained monkeys to perform acrobatic and comedic acts. This rare woodblock print was printed before the 1923 earthquake that destroyed Watanabe Shozaburo's studio.
