    Tsuchiya Koitsu, "Lake Motosu"

    Shin-Hanga

    Tsuchiya Koitsu, "Lake Motosu"

    $0.00

The beauty of Mount Fuji at Lake Motosu (west of Fuji) is captured masterfully as the sun casts a red glow at sunset. A rare early-edition and fine representation of Tsuchiya Koitsu’s talent as a woodblock print artist. The simplicity of the design is evocative of Hokusai, while the skill of the printing demonstrates the meticulous craftsmanship of shin-hanga woodblock prints.

    Date: 1934
    Size: Oban (approx. 10” x 15”)
    Edition: Printed c. 1950s (Harada/Yokoi seals)
    Publisher: Doi Hangaten
    Condition: Very fine
Shown in Modern Metal, Walnut Frame

Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870-1949) was a student of Kobayashi Kiyochika whose landscape prints are widely regarded and coveted by collectors today.
