Tsuchiya Koitsu, "Miyajima in Snow"

A stunning composition showing the Torii gate at Miyajima during a snow fall, this early edition woodblock print by Tsuchiya Koitsu beautifully contrasts the red of the Torii gate with the grey of the sky and blue in the water. The pine tree and lanterns frame the gate perfectly adding a subtle visual cue of the main subject.
