A single peacock stands in elegant, poised stillness among blooming chrysanthemums in this finely carved and printed woodblock print by Tsuchiya Koitsu. The composition is executed with exceptional refinement, with attention to the texture and patterns of the peacock. This work is considered exceedingly rare, with no later edition impressions known to exist, and was acquired from a prominent Japanese collection of shin-hanga. It bears the embossed seal of Doi Sadaichi in the lower left.
