Utagawa Kunisada II, "Cool Evening on the Ryogoku"
Pickup currently unavailable
In this rare and beautiful triptych by Kunisada II, a group of women are loading themselves into a boat for a nighttime cruise on the Sumida River near Ryogoku in Edo (modern-day Tokyo). In the background we see buildings and bridges lining the banks of the river, which is busy with pleasure boats. The full moon casts its bright light and bats are shown flying in the sky. A real beauty of a triptych!
