A man in elaborate robes, likely a priest, carries an urn while a group of ghosts accompany him, awaiting to welcome the deceased into the spirt world. The varied expressions among the apparitions are delightfully composed. Rare woodblock prints taken from an ehon (Japanese picture book) by Utagawa Kuniyoshi of Heroes from China and Japan. Detail shows uncropped right sheet (prints sent matted 14” x 18” as diptych for presentation).
