Kuniyoshi’s depiction of the warrior Omori Hikoshichi, who meets a beautiful woman one evening who asks to be carried across a stream. En route, his passenger reveals herself to be a hannya (female demon) and Omori successfully defends himself. Rare woodblock prints taken from an ehon (Japanese picture book) by Utagawa Kuniyoshi of Heroes from China and Japan. Detail shows uncropped right sheet (prints sent matted 14” x 18” as diptych for presentation).
