Lake Kizaki sits at the foot of the northern part of the Japanese Alps. Here, a small rural village on the lake's shore is shown on a rainy day with the dense clouds creeping over the mountain top. A lone figure is shown walking in the composition which is rich with soft green and blue colors. A later edition printed from the original woodblocks.

Hasui Kawase (1883-1957) is one of Japan's most important artists to emerge from the shin-hanga era. His prints are recognized throughout the world, with many of his woodblock prints elevating to icons of art and design.
